Most people this time of year make their New Years resolutions, then follow through on it(temporarily), and after a few weeks(at most) they go right back to their same habits only to make the same New Years resolution the following year. No where is this more evident than with our bodies, especially when it comes to fat loss. In fact, by the end of January, 95% of people who set New Years goals to lose weight and fat have already broken their promise to themselves. In addition, 95% of people who said they were going to have their best year ever are already on the same track as they were last year. Most people want to lose fat and look better. The fact that, as of 2005, 65% of the people in the United States are overweight and 30.5% are considered obese, indicates that this is a societal issue. But is it really? The commercials and infomercials year after year promote the same promises using the same products(with different names) and are making claims that their system is working. If this is the case then how come the numbers stated above have steadily been going up over the past 30 years? Many people will say that our eating habits need to improve, which is true. Many people will also say that you need to exercise, which is true. Now how many of these people also include how you program yourself for success for you to reach your goalsnot many if any at all, and those that may are most likely not doing so properly. You may and probably will hear claims about how they will motivate you to succeed. Many people will start their New Years Fitness Resolution and failwhy? The reason is because they are not programmed for success BEFORE they set out on their path to achieving their goals. This absolutely must be done first and foremost. So, of course the question that is on everyones mind is, How do I become programmed to reach my fat loss goals? This is a 3 step process and applies to anyone no matter if they need to lose 10 lbs or 200 lbs: A. Your thoughts(belief systems) B. Your feelings C. Your actions Reprogramming your mind to successfully lose fat starts with your vision. You must have clarity and be very detailed in your thoughts about how you want to look. Focus ONLY on what you want to look like. Many people focus on how they do not want to look like. Also, people start to think about how am I going to do this and they get caught up in the details and then the anxiety and fear sets in. When determining your fat loss vision do not worry about the how to part or the details. Once you have your vision in place and your thoughts behind it, start to feel it coming into your life. Start to feel it as though you now have that body you always dreamed of. Feel yourself fitting into those skinny jeans as though it is happening right now. The feeling part is vital. Always feel it as though it is happening right now. Most people just write their goals down, think about them, and feel that is all they need to do. It is the feeling behind your vision and your thoughts of how you want to look like is what drives your actions. Once you have your thoughts and feelings behind your fat loss vision in place it is time to take action. By this point you have been programmed to follow through and see it as you visualized it.
